A Better Life: Less Time, More Problems

Does it seem the quantity of problems you have is ever growing, however, at the same time; your spare time is dwindling? Here’s a recommendation that may help balance the scales – at least somewhat.

If you think about it, there is a good bit of time that we spend, during the course of each day, that we could actually be significantly more productive. Examples of those times include driving time, shower time, lunch time, break time and pretty much anytime we are simply waiting on something or someone. Typically the way we spend that downtime is by occupying ourselves with any number of primarily mindless distractions such as the radio, television, phone conversations, random thoughts, etc. In reality, we could be considerably more productive with that time.

Thus, the recommendation is this… Think about the issues, concerns and things that need to be solved in your life. Generate a list. Categorize the individual items in terms of whether you anticipate each to require considerable thought or not – and also in terms of each item’s relative importance to your happiness and fulfillment. Once you’ve done that, be sure to keep a copy of that list close at all times.

And during those downtimes, pick a problem off the list and think about it. When you’re on your way to work… while you’re in the shower… when things slow down for a couple minutes and you have nothing else pressing to do – think about how you might resolve the problem - and how to best address the symptoms that allowed the problem to appear. Think about tasks you can do to minimize the relevance of the issue – as well as steps you can take to make the issue completely go away.

Just doing that… What you will find is that you will become considerably more productive in the time you do have. What you will find is that your list of problems will grow shorter and shorter – moving you that much closer to true happiness and fulfillment.

Happy living to you…

Why We Sing

So, exactly what's the driving force behind SomethingToShare.com and "The Nurse in the Delivery Room Slapped Me... Once: Stories and Perspectives to Help You Unlock Your Amazing Potential")? Founded in the depths of sorrow, SomethingToShare.com was created as the only possible logical response to the completely illogical, unfair and unwarranted passing of my mother. The loss of my mother was a harsh dose of reality - coupled with pain and heartache the likes of nothing I'd ever known. Death had come into my life and abruptly taken the person most important to me - and I hadn't been able to do anything but helplessly watch, pray and cry.

For me, her passing was, by far, the most horrific, excruciating and emotionally draining event that I had ever experienced. And in the resulting disillusioned, angry and rebellious state of mind that first week, I searched for answers... for a reason to go on... for something to alleviate at least a small portion of the pain. What I didn't know was that composing the program for my mother's funeral services would provide that opportunity. It was when I compiled the following for the back of the program that the stage was set for the healing to begin;

None of us knows the volume of sand remaining in the hourglass of our lives... Now more than ever she teaches us to appreciate time... Now more than ever she teaches us to appreciate the people we spend it with... I urge you to seek out your loved ones, hug them, and let them know how much you care. God Bless...

Eventually out of the sorrow grew determination - determination to follow in her path so I would one day see her again... determination to refocus my life... determination to remind others about the value of each day... determination to make a difference in her name.

From there, a few friends lent their perspectives, effort and a liberal helping of smiles (not to mention a few cathartic tears) - and countless others have cared enough to share and, in so doing, have become part of our extended SomethingToShare.com family. From there, my first motivational and inspirational book, "The Nurse in the Delivery Room Slapped Me... Once: Stories and Perspectives to Help You Unlock Your Amazing Potential" was born – along with STSTheBook.com, dedicated to showcasing the book and other inspirational products.

The goal... Via a continuous helping of motivational words, inspirational gifts, a little perspective, possibly a tear or two, a few laughs and whatever else we can think of - we endeavor to help motivate and inspire you to begin to make a difference in this world... for you and the people around you. Further, we encourage you to make the most of today - because when it's all said and done... tomorrow simply isn't promised.

The concept and mission of SomethingToShare, the motivational and inspirational book, the resulting endeavors and most especially, absolutely any hint of positive impact and/or inspired, uplifting and beneficial outcomes induced are dedicated to the memory of a Rose, my mother - and her belief that no matter what this life brings, we must count our blessings, strengthen our resolve, lean on our faith and go right on living. Or as Mom would so succinctly put it… I used to cry because I had no shoes, then I met a man with no feet.

So you are encouraged to open your mind and your heart today and to remember us whenever you are in need of a little inspiration. And above all know that if you touch just one life this day and the next... The world will be a better place.

Each day, be inspired – then aspire to more…

BookPleasures.com D Anthony Interview (installment 3 of 3)

Here’s the third and final installment of my Author’s Interview for “The Nurse in the Delivery Room Slapped Me… Once: Stories and Perspectives to Help You Unlock Your Amazing Potential” - conducted by Norm Goldman, Publisher and Editor of BookPleasures.com.

***

(continued…)

Norm:

Do you worry about the human race?

D Anthony:

I’m deeply concerned on the behalf of those who legitimately cannot fend for themselves. I’m deeply concerned on behalf of the youth… the messages, values and life lessons they are receiving and the limited expectations, paradigms and the nature of the potentially life-long outlooks being set.

Norm:

Do you ever feel that you are preaching to the converted and that those who need most to read your book ignore it?

D Anthony:

Without a doubt… And I must admit, sometimes it gets a little frustrating… conversing with people unhappy with the direction their lives are headed, offering them a message they can use to begin to turn things around – and them not being willing to give it an honest try. It reminds me of an anecdote I came across, which I share in the book. A young man stops at a porch and queries an older gentleman in a rocking chair – “Is that your dog moaning… is something wrong with him?” The older gentleman responds, “Oh, he’s just lying on a nail… that’s all.” The young man presses further, “Well, why doesn’t he simply get off of the nail?” “It’s not hurting him that bad, I guess”, was the response.

So, when it comes to those who most need to read the book, my job is to endeavor to help them consider that life is both precious and fleeting, our yesterdays don’t have to define our ‘todays’ and there’s a much more enjoyable and fulfilling life waiting beyond the nail. My job is to endeavor to help them to realize that nail… it’s not going to be the one that moves.

Norm:

Are you working on any books/projects that you would like to share with us? (We would love to hear all about them!)

D Anthony:

Another motivational and inspirational book, with more stories and perspectives, is in the works – however, it’s likely to be a while before it sees the light of day. My inspirational website, www.SomethingToShare.com is due for a bit of a makeover, which should happen in the coming months. It is most definitely a great place for your readers to visit for a little perspective to help make it through the day, for those trying to deal with the loss of a loved one and for those who have inspirational life stories and poems they might like to share. SomethingToShare Inspirational Plaques are available with beautiful images of nature and uplifting messages at http://www.somethingtoshare.com/Plaques/Main_InspirationalPlaques.shtm. They are a great source for daily inspiration – and perfect for the home and office. And last but not least, I’ve begun writing a blog. Your readers can learn more about the book, the road to greater happiness and fulfillment and everything else that’ll be going on at http://inspirationalpoemsandbooks.blogspot.com/.

Norm:

Although you are not leaving us just yet, how do you want to be remembered?

D Anthony:

He strived to make the world a better place – and you know what… it is. He seemed truly happy and fulfilled… I guess he practiced what he preached after all. I’ll bet his mom and dad are really proud of him. What changes do you think he’s trying to inspire… and how do you think his writing is going over… in heaven? And finally, which one of his books should I read again… first?

Norm:

Where can our readers find out more about you and The Nurse in the Delivery Room Slapped Me…Once?

D Anthony:

Norm:
